Shoreline Management Plan Update for Walter F. George Lake in Alabama and Georgia
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is responsible for periodically reviewing and updating, as necessary, the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) for each Corps-owned lake within the District (Engineer Regulation (ER) 1130-2-406). The Corps is planning to update the SMP for Walter F. George Lake in Alabama and Georgia. The Corps is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) to determine if there will be any significant impacts to the environment as a result of the proposed revisions to the SMP. The study area consists of the shoreline and adjacent public lands and waters of Walter F. George Lake in Alabama and Georgia. There are currently 275 miles of project boundary divided into limited development areas, public recreation areas, protected shoreline areas, and prohibited areas.
This Web site provides information on the EA and SMP as the process moves forward. It also provides information on the opportunities for public involvement that will be available during the project.
